On October 29, 2016 Deputy Sheriff Dan Glaze was shot and killed while investigating a suspicious vehicle. Dan arrived at the scene and located the vehicle in a field. He radioed in a description of the vehicle but did not respond to additional radio traffic or calls to his cell phone. Responding units found Dan inside his patrol car suffering from a gunshot wound. Dan had served the Rusk County (WI) Sheriff’s Office for 18 months and had served in law enforcement for seven years.
“My husband Dan Glaze Jr. was without a doubt born to be a law enforcement officer. Those who knew him were unlikely to find another person who loved their job as much. On October 29th 2016 his career and life were cut short when he was ambushed and shot in the line of duty. Dan left behind three children, Kendall, Levi and Eliana. In the time following Dan’s death, Levi, then age 5 spent hours playing with his Legos. He found comfort in throwing himself into Lego creations. On the hardest days he could be found on his bedroom floor, Legos from corner to corner, finding peace working on his latest project. Levi is now 7 and Legos are still his biggest coping device” – Sarah Glaze
The trial for Dan Glaze Jr. will take place in the fall of 2018 and Band of Blue will be there to support the family during this difficult time. In January, Band of Blue is sending the Glaze family to Lego Land in California for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Please consider helping us continue to provide these experiences to the families of our fallen law enforcement officers by providing a tax deductible, one-time or recurring donation to the Band of Blue.
